Beau Coops Shoes – Women’s Spring/Summer 2011-2012

The designer was reportedly was inspired by

the tale of a 15th century Hungarian woman, known only as Elizabeth – she was the most prolific serial killer of her day, reportedly slaughtering over 600 virgins. Elizabeth would reportedly bathe in her victim’s blood in an effort to keep herself young.

Ummm okay?!?!?!

Regardless of the less than usual inspiration, these shoes are  a great incredible!

Simple Tunic Outfit

I love simple outfits like these. They are so easy to wear and are super comfortable. They can be dressed up or down, and could work for most seasons by just  adding different accessories or a coat.

Any plain tunic in a neutral or jewel toned colors would be perfect for recreating these looks.

The lower placement of the belt definitely gives this outfit a more medieval feel, verses the typical modern around the waist look.

Accessories are key for giving a simple tunic a medieval flair. When in doubt leather is always a good option. The simple leather boots and belt take this tunic to the next level.

Lots of Leggings

So I have to admit I am pretty excited about this post! I love leggings!!! they are so simple to wear are are the comfiest item of clothing you will ever own. They can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I had a little trouble at first  finding medieval looking leggings. Then it hit me…. BAROQUE! Of course! If there was ever a fabric that screamed medieval, baroque would be it. After figuring out that key word that I was missing, I found way too many awesome leggings and tried to narrow it down a little so everything would not end up being the same style, however if you would like to see more I highly suggest searching baroque leggings on Google and you will find a plethora of results that would fit anyone’s taste.

These Blue velvet leggings are just too gorgeous for words! They are definitely busy, but with a simple white top I think they would look amazing!

These Velveteen baroque leggings are the most reasonable priced ones that i could find, and honestly I think they look almost exactly the same as other brands that retail for upwards of $100.

Diy Chainmail out of soda tops!

I have seen tutorials around the internet for the longest time on how to make chainmail out of soda can tops. This is a really awesome idea, not only are you recycling but you are also making a functional piece of clothing. Whatever you make may not be the most comfortable item in your closet, but i can assure you that no one will ever be wearing the same outfit.

I absolutely love this skirt!

There are many tutorials for this around the internet, but here are two that I have found that are the most simple and to the point over on Wikihow and  Instructables.

Alexander McQueen FALL 2010 READY-TO-WEAR

This has to be one of my all time favorite medieval inspired collections. This was one of the first collections that I saw when searching for modern medieval clothing and I have loved it ever since. I absolutely love all of the ornate details of the dresses. It may be a little over the top for some, but you can surely envision regal queen and duchesses of the 14th century wearing theses heavenly designs.

“What McQueen was preparing had a poetic, medieval beauty that dealt with religious iconography while recapturing memories of his own past collections. He had ordered fabric that translated digital photographs of paintings of high-church angels and Bosch demons into hand-loomed jacquards, then taken the materials and cut stately caped gowns and short draped dresses. In its ornate surface narrative, that might read as a kick against the plain and restrained direction fashion is taking, but in their own way, the fluted, attenuated lines of his long dresses suggested a calm and simplicity. Instead of aggression, they transmitted the grace of the medieval Madonnas and Byzantine empresses McQueen had been studying.”

This is my favorite piece of the whole collection. I could definitely see this dress on the show Game of Thrones, and of course it would be worn by a Lannister.

Medieval fashion drawings.

I found these cute drawings over on deviantart and thought they might serve as inspiration for someone.

fashion_inspired_by_the_middle_ages_iv_by_ryuuseirosuto-d5cfd0k

I think that the designs are simple enough that most people could: a) pull them off and b) be able to find similar items in most stores.

Here is a caption from one of the above drawings made by the artist.

I wish the next big thing was clothes like this. outfits inspired buy the romantic, modern story idea of the Middle Ages. You know, when a man either had to be a very intelligent bad guy or a kind man who always does the right thing in order to get the girl, and if a woman could think for herself, then she obviously must be the heroin of the tale and have a great destiny ahead of her.

This person gets it!!!! Nice to see i’m not the only one that thinks this way.

Outfit inspiration of the day

I love this look!
Here is an extremely good example of seeing and outfit that you like and making it your own.
This is what i hope everyone will be able to do after seeing my blog, see a picture that inspires them and then go home and put your own twist on a similar outfit. Yeah sure you can go out and buy the exact same items, but where’s the fun in that?

Went out and about in this little outfit today inspired by a glorious photo taken by the Sartorialist.

Stella McCartney FALL 2008 READY-TO-WEAR

I am in no way a typical fashion blogger, I have no idea how to describe or talk about clothing. In my opinion a picture speaks for itself. However I do understand that some people don’t get the main idea behind a design just by looking at a picture, they need a description of what is going on to fully understand the concept. Which is why I am going to post and excerpt of an article that I think describes the collection wonderfully!

“The medieval inspiration was clear at Paris Fashion Week as the young designer sent models down her runway that looked ready to jump on horses and start jousting.

“Rug-like mustard knits emblazoned with grandiose coats-of-arms strode alongside foggy drifting chiffons and heavy plain midnight-blue velvet shifts,” Catwalk Queen described. “Some, like a small tulip LBD, were cute, sleek and feminine, while long black smocks and boxy double-breasted wool-felt coats with enormous lapels eliminated any silhouette whatsoever. Some ensembles gave off an earthy, ethnic vibe; others harked back centuries to the medieval damsel.”
